VICKIE L. PERKINS
Trustee, Village of South Holland
Vickie L. Perkins is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a dedicated community leader and ambassador, and an accomplished professional in the retail industry. In 2015, she was appointed as a village trustee by Mayor Don De Graff, with the unanimous approval of the Village Board.
Currently, serves on the Community Coordination and Public Works Committees.
As a dedicated and reliable community ambassador, Trustee Perkins has served the village as a volunteer for nearly 19 years. Prior to her trustee appointment, she was a long-time member of the South Holland Youth Commission, including serving as commission chairwoman. Under her leadership, the commission created and executed Winter Break, a program designed to expose South Holland youth to new culturally and socially engaging experiences. Also, during the annual Youth Commission Lock-In at the Community Center, Trustee Perkins organized and managed the Lock-In Café, ensuring refreshments were available for the kids for the duration of the overnight event.
Trustee Perkins’ dedication to community involvement earned her special recognition. In 2013, she was the recipient of the Mayor’s Award for Future Leadership, and in 2014, she was the recipient of the Diversity, Inc. Community Spirit Award. Trustee Perkins is the Southeast Suburban District Manager for Starbucks. Boasting a 20-year tenure, she received several awards, including District Manager of the Year for Customer Service.
Trustee Perkins and her husband, Carlos, have lived in South Holland for more than two decades. She is a mother of two sons, Carlos James and Mikael, and a grandmother of two grandchildren, Carmen and James.
Prior to her village board appointment, Trustee Perkins was Deputy Campaign Chairwoman for the 2015 Village Trustee election and was
instrumental in helping craft the campaign strategy. She is a long-time member of the executive committee of the Heritage Community Party.
