ANDREW JOHNSON JR.

Trustee, Village of South Holland

Andrew and his wife, Donna have been residents of South Holland since 2003. They have two sons, Tyler and Bryan. Andrew was appointed Village Trustee by Mayor Don De Graff in 2008 and was subsequently elected in 2009, 2013, 2017 and again in 2021. He is chairman of the Public Safety Committee and a member of the Finance and Public Works Committees. He previously served as chairman of the parks

and recreation committee.

Andrew remains a servant at heart, viewing his position as an opportunity to be a voice of the community on the Village Board. Andrew over his tenure on the Board has made it a priority to connect with the members of the community, attending numerous neighborhood meetings, and has always made himself available to requests to appear and address community issues at homeowners’ meetings.

In addition to his trustee duties, Andrew works as a Regional Director of Operations for Troon Golf Management in the Indigo Sports Division. Troon Golf is the largest golf management company in the world, operating over 700 properties worldwide. Andrew oversees multiple contracted properties in and around the Chicago area, overseeing 11 golf facilities, 5 campgrounds, 5 indoor pavilions for the Forest

Preserve District of Cook County, and Centennial Park golf and banquets for the Town of Munster Indiana.

He serves on the Troon Golf Management commission for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, tasked with providing more opportunities for men and women of all ethnic backgrounds to have inroads into golf based on their work performance. Having people of diverse backgrounds sitting at the table, opens the door for the continued growth of the market, as there are untapped areas of the community that can only

be accessed by diversity. One of his inspirations is being a presence for younger minorities who can see a person of color in a leadership position. People can’t aspire to be something unless they see a person or group that makes it seem attainable.

His previous work experience was as a market analyst with the Chicago Board of Trade, and a financial news journalist with Dow Jones Newswires and the Wall Street Journal, where he wrote daily and feature articles on news and trends in the agricultural commodity markets. He has a BA and MBA in Business Administration, with a concentration in finance.

Johnson is a member of Covenant United Church of Christ in South Holland and serves as the chairman of the Security Ministry and chairman of the Endowment Committee. Andrew donates numerous hours of his time to activities at the church from assisting at the weekly food pantry and any events that contribute to the community outreach of the church.

Andrew serves as a board member of the Thornton Township High School District 205 Academic Enrichment Foundation, he previously served the community as a Board member of Christ Our Savior Catholic School, a member of the South Holland Parks Advisory Board, and on the South Holland Little League board. Andrew also coached youth sports, volunteering his time to little league baseball and youth basketball.
